Hi, I am glad you found my site. I know you are probably struggling with many things in your life to bring you here. Something happened to you when you were younger or even recently that changed your life and has caused you to have flashbacks, anxiety, depression, stress, problems in your relationships, work related problems or just feeling low and overwhelmed.
You may have gone to therapy before and it only helped for a short time and then you were flooded again with memories and negative thoughts swirling through your mind. If you have not gone to therapy, you may be feeling anxious because you don’t want to bring up the things that happened, you don’t want to relive it.
I want you to know that feeling anxious about therapy is very normal. You may wonder if the therapist will judge you, will look at you as if you are broken and tell you that there isn’t any hope, that you will have to live with these powerful emotions forever. Although you may "feel" broken I can assure you that you are normal, it is just that the traumatic incidences have changed the way your mind and body function. With specialized treatment you can improve your mind and moods effectively. I will teach you how to do just that.
I specialize in therapy related to trauma. Trauma can mean all kinds of things. Most of us think of trauma as rape, car accidents, significant inury, war, etc. Trauma can be very different for each person and it is something that causes distress for you. A traumatic incident or a traumatic childhood can cause you to be angry, irritable, have problems sleeping, problems with eating, difficulty concentrating, low frustration levels, bouts of tearfulness, depression, anxiety, a sense of being overwhelmed and feelings of hopelessness or helplessness. Regardless of what you have been through I have the skills to help you regulate your emotions and feel lighter and more confident. I am trained in EMDR and Brainspotting and these therapies provide immediate positive results.
I am here to tell you there is hope and you can feel better. Choosing the right therapist for you is essential. Often times we just hop into a counselor’s office thinking they know how to “fix” us but that is not true. The reality is that you need a therapist who specializes in treating trauma and can provide some relief even in the first session. After all, you would not go to a general family doctor if you have a heart condition, you would go to a cardiologist who specializes in hearts.
I have been where you are and I know how miserable it can feel. Many of my clients tell me that they are broken, disorganized or lost. From my own personal experiences and intensive training I am here to tell you there is hope and you can and will feel better.
